White-label design for print shops

Large-format design for print shops: banners, yard signs and storefronts

Wide-format work pays well and goes wrong expensively. A banner that looked fine on a monitor turns out unreadable from the road, or the grommets punch through the phone number. We design large-format pieces for the distance they’ll be read from, and set the files up for the way you print and finish them.

What we design

  • Vinyl and mesh banners, with hem, pole-pocket and grommet allowances kept clear of content
  • Double-sided yard signs and A-frames
  • Storefront and window graphics, split into panels at your material width
  • Billboards and highway signage, designed to be read in a couple of seconds
  • Event canopies, flags and backdrops, built on the manufacturer’s template
  • Seasonal shopfront swaps, so your customers come back four times a year instead of once

Set up for your printer, not for a screen

Large-format files are built at scale when the finished size calls for it, with image resolution checked against the real viewing distance rather than a blanket 300 dpi that makes the file impossible to open. Panels are tiled to your printer’s maximum width with overlap where you need it. Colours are specified in CMYK or as spot colours to match your vinyl, and the file tells your operator exactly what to do.

Readable from where people actually stand

The test for a sign is whether someone driving past can read it. We keep the message to what matters, size type for the distance, and use contrast that survives sunlight. If the customer wants twelve lines of text on a yard sign, we’ll show them a version with three that works, and let them choose.

Questions

What resolution do large-format files need?
It depends on viewing distance. A banner read from across a street needs far less resolution per inch than a poster read at arm’s length. We check every image at final size against how the piece will be seen, and upscale or rebuild anything that won’t hold.
Can you work to our material widths and finishing?
Yes. Tell us your maximum print width, your overlap and your finishing (hems, pockets, grommets), and your designer builds every file that way from then on.
Do you design storefronts from a photo?
Yes. Send a straight-on photo of the shopfront with a few measurements, and we design the graphics to fit the real windows and fascia.
