White-label design for print shops

White-label business card design for print shops

Business cards are the highest-volume job in most small shops, and the one customers most often turn up for with nothing usable: a logo screenshot, a Word document, a photo of an old card. Send us whatever they gave you. A print-ready file comes back, usually before you open, with your shop’s name on it and ours nowhere.

What you send us

The customer’s name and contact details, their logo in whatever state it’s in, the stock and finish, and when they need it. A photo of their old card is enough to start. You don’t need to write a brief.

What comes back

  • A double-sided layout at your standard size (3.5 × 2 in, or 85 × 55 mm) with bleed, safe area and crop marks
  • CMYK at 300 dpi, with black built the way your press likes it
  • Type outlined, or fonts packaged with the file
  • Special finishes on their own named layers: spot UV, foil, blind deboss, rounded-corner die lines
  • A print-ready PDF plus the native source file, named so anyone in your shop can find it next year
  • Matching letterhead, envelopes or compliment slips whenever the customer asks for them

The details that prevent a reprint

Most business card reprints come from the same few mistakes, so we check for them every time. Contact details sit inside the safe area, so a little trim drift never touches a phone number. Coloured backgrounds run past the trim, so no white sliver shows on the edge. Small type is checked at actual size, not zoomed in on a screen. And a logo that only exists as a blurry JPEG gets redrawn as a vector before it goes anywhere near a press.

Logos and brand refreshes

Plenty of walk-ins arrive with a logo they built themselves. Redrawing it cleanly as a vector, tidying the type, and giving them a consistent set of colours is part of the same plan. It’s also the job most likely to turn a one-off card order into a customer who comes back for signs, flyers and a shopfront.

Questions

How fast is a business card turned around?
Standard business cards come back within 24 hours on average, and often before you open: the studio is eight to ten hours ahead of most of the US, so a job sent at closing is finished overnight.
Can you work to our house stock and standard sizes?
Yes. You get one designer who learns your stock, your standard sizes and the finishes you offer, so you don’t have to repeat them on every job.
Will the customer ever see your name?
No. Every file ships under your shop’s name: no watermark, no credit line, nothing in the file metadata. You stay the single point of contact.
